BetDigital – your key to unlock the UK market

Interest in the UK market has been at a premium in recent months, following significant investments made by large overseas companies such as the Gauselmann Group and Novomatic. However, many others looking to develop content for this vibrant sector may be put off by the complexity of its structure, the dominance of a few key players and the level of investment needed to get a game to market.

For those unsure of how to crack the UK – the answer may lie in an innovative service offered by BetDigital – the brainchild of ex-JPM chief Heath Samples. “We noticed that a number of major suppliers of server-based gaming platforms were promoting them as ‘open’ to third-party developers,” he says. “However, this did not mean that it was easy for a developer to get their game published on these platforms.”

A few of the problems encountered by developers include:

  • They need to know what type of platform would be suitable for their type of game. Is it suitable for Category C, or should it be a B3?
  • They would need to know who to approach in order to have their game considered.
  • The specifications required of the software can be very complex
  • Every platform requires the game to be published in a different format
  • The process is extremely time-consuming and can take over a year

“We spent two years becoming fully conversant with the minutiae of the different platforms being used in the different UK sectors, including LBO, bingo and arcade. We created a solution called System X, which can translate any game into the format required for these platforms. In addition, we offer invaluable advice to developers on which sectors of the UK market their games would be suitable for,” says Heath.

BetDigital now works with a number of leading game developers, including international giants such as Spielo. BetDigital’s integration services are also recommended by leading UK operators including Ladbrokes, Gala and Coral.

“The UK’s large operators welcome fresh content on their server-based gaming terminals and a lot of our business comes from their recommendations,” says Heath. “We can often get a game onto these open platforms in as little as 8 weeks, thanks to our expertise, rather than the 12 months it usually takes.”
