Enterprise Inns gains in strength

21/11/2012

Enterprise Inns, the UK’s biggest pub group, which has some 6,000 pubs in the UK, posted pre-tax profits of £34m for the year to September 30, a turnaround from a £14m loss in 2011, after a smaller write-down on its property portfolio.

However, revenue dipped almost 3pc to £692m following the wash-out summer and a disastrous Olympic period for publicans, as the majority of Britons chose to watch the games from the comfort of their sofas.

Despite the revenue fall, Enterprise Inns boss Ted Tuppen said he was “satisfied” with the group’s position after it refinanced its bank lending and reduced overall debt by £300m to £2.7bn.
