Marc Etches is Chief Exec of Responsible Gambling Trust

02/02/2012

It was announced today that Marc Etches has been appointed as Chief Executive of the Responsible Gambling Trust, the new charitable organisation that will be formed out of the merger of the Responsible Gambling Fund and The GREaT Foundation.  The Responsible Gambling Trust will officially launch in April 2012 and will adopt the fundraising and commissioning roles of the two merged organisations.

The Responsible Gambling Trust is dedicated to minimising the level of problem gambling in Britain through effective education and prevention techniques, which stop people getting into problems with their gambling, and ensuring that those that do develop problems receive fast and effective treatment and support.  The Responsible Gambling Trust plans to become the industry brand for responsible gambling and to ensure that legitimate business growth and job creation is balanced with social protection of the weak and vulnerable in society.

Speaking today, Marc Etches – Chief Executive of the Responsible Gambling Trust – said: ”It gives me great pleasure to take on this new and exciting role.  As Chief Executive of the Responsible Gambling Trust, it is my intention that we continue to build on and maintain effective partnership working with industry executives and representation bodies; treatment service providers and the research community; as well as legislators and regulators to ensure that the national responsible gambling strategy is delivered successfully and that the Responsible Gambling Trust becomes the industry brand for responsible gambling.  Furthermore, in bringing the fundraising and commissioning activities together under one roof, we aim to significantly reduce our overall running costs to ensure that donations are used to maximum effect and support the beneficiaries for which they were intended.”

Neil Goulden – Chairman of The GREaT Foundation / Responsible Gambling Fund / Responsible Gambling Trust – added:

“On behalf of the Trustees, I would like to congratulate Marc on his new appointment as Chief Executive of the Responsible Gambling Trust.  The Responsible Gambling Trust plans to become an independent, authoritative and respected voice for responsible gambling in Britain.  It will commission effective and value for money services from treatment and education providers through a commissioning approach focussing on partnership working and appropriate evaluation, which is proportional to the relevant grant.  Over the next few weeks the merger of the Responsible Gambling Fund and The GREaT Foundation will be completed and announcements regarding further staff appointments will be made in due course.”
