Jimmy Godden sells Ramsgate arcade

07/12/2011

Jimmy Godden has sold The Boulevard Amusement arcade in Ramsgate, which will become a showroom and base for the Royal Sands luxury housing development. The development has attracted a lot of interest and it is rumoured that Premiership footballer John Terry may be interested in buying an apartment.

The Boulevard Amusement arcade will be emptied in early January once the shopfront to Mr Godden’s other premises in Harbour Parade has been replaced. His arcade business in Ramsgate is expected to move there. Staff were told of the decision last week.

Once the Royal Sands development is completed it is hoped the Boulevard arcade building will become restaurants. The luxury residential and retail development was granted planning permission in January 2005, although work didn’t start on the site until the autumn of 2009.

The development which will consist of an hotel, 107 apartments, cafes, and restaurants, is due to be completed by 2014, and building work is on target for that date.
