Tower block hotel to replace Skegness Fun City?

This is the eyesore that could soon replace the Fun City Amusement Arcade in North Parade, Skegness.

An application for this 98-bedroom, 15 storey hotel has been approved and it is argued it would “rejuvenate the north end of Skegness foreshore”.

Steve Williamson from Lincs Design Consultancy, said: “The proposed hotel and leisure complex will draw more visitors in general to the area and especially the north part of Skegness foreshore. It raises the quality of holiday facilities and attractions in Skegness and the design intends to provide hotel guests with an excellent view of the sea.”

Skegness Town Council had objected to the proposals on the grounds that the visual impact would be out of character for the area and the parking arrangements were inadequate. However, committee members were advised that both the issues could be looked at when the final details of the development were brought back for approval at a later stage.
