Heber is supporting the National Apprenticeship Scheme in the UK. Heber has employed a number of apprentices that have that have progressed to senior roles within the company. One example is Richard Horne, Commercial Manager, who was one of the first apprentices at Heber. He has now been with the company for over 20 years.

Heber have taken on apprentices in the Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Marketing departments, and many have reached degree level in their chosen field.

“I have put Apprenticeships at the heart of our company because they encourage ambition and enterprise, and help drive economic and social progress.  The scheme offers a great platform for young people to develop their experience in the working environment, as well as strengthening and enriching our company” Les Ashton Smith- Managing Director of Heber.

Heber promote learning and ensure Apprentices are well suited to the training given, passing on their specialist skills in Electronic Control Systems. Offering comprehensive mentoring has secured successful Apprenticeships time and time again. Heber also design and manufacture all products in the UK, which gives Apprentices a great opportunity to understand the complete process of the business, from production, through to management.

Offering high quality learning plans in the workplace has seen Apprentices like Andrew Gardiner reach a HND in engineering. Andy has also just completed an exciting new project for Heber called the Magic Eye, which allows manufactured hardware/software solutions to utilize real time debug outputs. It is an extremely exciting project driven by Andrew to the benefit of Heber.

‘Working at Heber has given me the opportunity for on-the-job training whilst studying for my HND in Engineering. It has been a great opportunity for me to gain experience in the field whilst furthering my academic pursuits” Andrew Gardiner – Engineer.

It is important now more than ever to ensure that employees have the skills they need to help deliver success, which is the reason why Heber continues to train and support the National Apprenticeship Scheme.
