Sound Leisure supports Royal British Legion Campaign

14/09/2011

This year is the 90th anniversary of the Royal British Legion (RBL) which works tirelessly on behalf of Serving and ex-Service men and women and their families. This year, the RBL is undertaking a unique fundraising event – the release of a song to which everyone and anyone can add their own voice. Sound Leisure is proud to be supporting the Poppy Appeal song on its jukeboxes in the form of free advertising and promotion, followed by the uploading of the finished version for play.

“Sound Leisure is really pleased to be able to help raise funds for such a worthy cause,” said the company’s Chris Black. “We will run the adverts across the UK’s estate of MIM networked jukeboxes this week via the Soundnet server. The advert invites the public to ring a chargeable number and join in with the chorus of the song. Everybody who sings will have their voice included in the final version of the song. It is then hoped that public support will get the song to the number one spot. We urge everyone to get involved!”

Lee Booth said on behalf of the RBL, “We’re delighted that Sound Leisure have chosen to support the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal song through use of their jukebox network and digital technology. Chris and the guys have moved mountains to make this happen and it goes to show what an amazing advertising opportunity the pub industry offers. The project is pioneering for many reasons and the cause is close to many people’s hearts. I’m sure that the licensed industry will make a huge impact on our chances of reaching number 1 when the track is released.”

It takes just three minutes to add your voice to the Poppy Appeal song and costs only £3.00 (with £2.00 going directly to the Legion after VAT) and everyone who sings will have their name added to the single as a genuine contributor to the song.

“Don’t worry – you are part of a chorus, so no matter bad you think you sound, the finished song will sound OK!” adds Lee. “If we get 90,000 people to take part then we can pretty much guarantee a No.1 single. A single that you have sung on and contributed your voice to! We have a load of top name artists appearing in the video we are making in October and there will be a chance to be in the video too!”

The song will be pre-released on radio in mid-October  and the final version with the choir added will be available for download from November 6th on iTunes and on Sound Leisure jukeboxes from 7th November – it will also be available to buy in Tesco stores.
