Operators say B3 changes “too little, too late,”

Local Suffolk online newspaper EADT 24 has quoted amusement arcade operators as saying the changes to B3 stakes is “too little too late”.

Charles Manning Jr, of Manning’s Amusement Park, Sea Road, said: “I think it’s positive a step in the right direction, but we are still fighting for a level playing field with bingo halls and betting shops, where the machines can be the same but the rules very different.”

New software to change the stakes would cost £1,000 per game with some machines able to take up to eight different games.

“We will change a few and it will give people more choice,” he added.

But David Manning, owner of The Forum, Sea Road, said change was “too little too late”. “We were told the smoking ban would boost our revenue by 12 per cent and it has cut it by more than 25pc. People have to clothe and feed themselves before they spend on leisure – a few years ago a family might spend £20 in an arcade and now it’s down to £5,” he said.
