Gaming Intelligence reports that leading online betting exchange Betfair Group plc has appointed Ian Chuter, William Hill’s former head of international and UK operations, to the new position of group operations director.

Betfair said that the role is a new position at the company and reflects Betfair’s commitment to making operations a more significant focus for the business.

Chuter begins his new role on July 4th and will be responsible for overseeing Betfair’s global customer operations team, which includes telephone betting, market operations, fraud, payments and trading.

He will also join the company’s executive committee.

“I am delighted to be joining Betfair at a really exciting time for the company,” said Ian Chuter. “Betfair revolutionised the industry and there are numerous opportunities to maximise its leading position as a global operator.”

Chuter has nearly thirty years’ industry experience and joins Betfair following a nine year career at William Hill where he served as group head of international and UK operations.

This role saw Chuter head up William Hill’s retail and telephone divisions, with responsibility for more than 2,300 licensed betting shops and 13,000 employees across the UK and Ireland.

Prior to that, Chuter had previously been William Hill’s operations director for the UK and Europe and group director for sportsbook and gaming. He was also a non-executive director of William Hill Online.
