Day 3 EAG show report

24/01/2013

Maple Moose – this was an unusual concept for EAG but what a great idea. Maple Moose is a complete turnkey solution for amusement venues, which can create anything from an ice cream handcart to a 70-seater restaurant. We were ┬ánot convinced at times whether some of the guests at EAG realised that this was not just a complimentary ice cream parlour but we were seriously impressed with the high quality of the concept.

SB Machines is well known for the high quality of its Italian made kiddy rides however this year customers were pleasantly surprised to find that this level of quality could be found at all price levels. “We brought products for all types of locations and for all types of budget because we understand that the market is still difficult for a lot of people,” said Paolo Sidoli. The star of the stand was undoubtedly the Cars double ride pictured.

Sound Leisure and Soundnet had such a busy stand that Chris Black managed to lose his voice by the end of the show! The VenueHub flagship product goes from strength to strength and now benefits from a revised front end which makes it even more user friendly. In addition, Sound introduced the DanceMe feature which turns a customer’s photo into one of an array of characters which dance along to a dance track. Lots of fun! Soundnet signed an exclusive deal with The Official Charts Company just before the show which makes it the only music provider for jukeboxes entitled to use the official UK charts. Also unveiled was the countdown feature on VenueHub which offers half price play if the jukebox has not been used for a while.

SAM Leisure had a good show but the company’s Liam Barrett found that he didn’t see that many new customers. “We saw a lot of people in the first two days and we had a lot of good conversations, but I found at the end of the day that I had very few new business cards, they were mostly existing customers,” he said. SAM showed a range of tables but this model with its Star Wars style football players was the real star. If you look closely you will find that the silver players actually have breasts. Yes – women players on a football table. That’s got to be a first!

Portman Asset Finance provides individually tailored finance packages and a full range of equipment leasing and financial solutions. Tom Roberts and Rory Dunn pictured.

Radical Shock group general manager Mike Anderson with ┬áRowan O’Keefe and David Blythe who hasn’t even joined the company yet! David is due to start in February but visited the show in order to get his first taste of the industry. Radical Shock specialises in manufacturing and distributing electronic control systems and had a very interesting new loyalty system on show at EAG
