Third FEC for DP in Leicester

11/09/2012

Following the success of its first two venues in Milton Keynes and Stevenage in the UK, DP Leisure (DPL), operator of the 360 Play family entertainment centre brand, has announced that it is to open a third UK site, in Leicester.

Now a firmly established brand name within the UK’s family entertainment centre sector, the third 360 Play site will be located at Leicester’s Meridian Leisure Park, a key location just five minutes drive from the M1 motorway. The mixed use site already features a wide range of other leisure businesses, including a Vue cinema, Hollywood Bowl, David Lloyd Leisure centre and a variety of restaurants and the 360 Play centre will add further diversity to the mix.

With a scheduled five month fit out of the 18,000 sq. ft. building, construction on the project began in August, providing an anticipated opening time of late 2012. Pre-manufacturing of many of the key play elements and structures that will be housed within the building is well underway in workshops in Milton Keynes, while the design and master planning of this latest project has once again been carried out by DPL’s sister company, DP Associates (DPA), who will project manage the build.

The newest 360 Play FEC will follow the brand’s classic and successful model of content which in this case will be arranged over two floors. There will be four main zones inside and two outside, the indoor areas including the 360 Street creative play zone, a feature at all 360 Play sites, made up of individual play units such as a fire station, supermarket, pizza parlour, car garage/body shop and dressing up shop. As at the other 360 Play sites, this key area is designed to stimulate the creativity in young minds while also providing an opportunity for parents to get involved in play with their children.

An active zone incorporating a three story soft play structure with a host of sliding, climbing, crawling and other activities and a skills area with mid-size dodgem cars (from IE Park) will be a central feature, while a sports zone with sports games and a feature carousel (also from IE Park) and a party zone accommodating a dedicated area for up to four individual parties will also be on offer.

The two outdoor zones will include one designed for under 3s with a sand play activity area and outdoor seating, and a larger, Club 360 area catering for the 3 to 10 year old age group with water boats, climbing attractions, water play and an event area.

A café and seating areas around the building will provide places for visitors to enjoy a well earned break from all the activities on offer.

“We are very happy to be able to announce our third 360 Play site for the UK,” said Managing Director Duncan Phillips. “We have found a first class location for this in Meridian Leisure Park, with an excellent catchment area, and I’m sure our offering will complement the existing facilities admirably and indeed help to attract a new market sector. As with our first two venues, we plan to create an engaging, inspiring and entertaining family play facility that I am confident will mirror the great success we continue to enjoy at our sites in Milton Keynes and Stevenage, even in what is still a challenging economic climate.”
