Easter was a mixed bag for arcades

It was sod’s law for Easter once again this year, as we watched the unseasonably good weather disappear just in time for Good Friday with the promise of a wash-out on Easter Monday. However, arcade operators report good takings overall for the break as Coin-op Community found out.

“Last week was about the same as two years ago when Easter was a similar date but well down on last year with Royal Wedding hot weather,” says Michael Webber, based in North Wales.

“Easter Monday was a wash-out but early Easters are more weather dependant and I find that the rest if the week is day trippers because people rarely take a week’s leave at Easter,” he adds.

Derek Petrie, President of BACTA and operator of an FEC in Somerset was also thwarted by the rain, but found business generally buoyant.

“Easter for us was very busy. Lots of people and but for the rain, we might have had a bonus this week. Camp sites were reporting cancellations due to it. Typical! Today (Tuesday) is glorious in the West Country!! We haven’t done a collection yet, but hope it will meet our expectations.”
